Unseasonal weather just can't stop us - Some days you have to create your own sunshine and here at Flux Studios we've conspired to bring to you a range of fantastic and inspirational jewellery courses to fill your time!

We have jewellery courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced students: our 12 week courses focus on a new theme each term. Learn how to make hollow forms, find new ways to create movement in your jewellery using linkages, rivets and screws, or work with thermochromic materials to make mood jewellery!

If you are looking for weekend or intensive courses check out our Short Course programme. We’re working with Southwark again this year, so if you live in this borough expect to get a great deal!

Short Courses in April

Design and Make a Pendant with a Stone.

Experiment with texturing and other sheet metal techniques; design a pendant that incorporates a semi-precious stone of your choice. Learn how to make a setting for the stone and complete the piece with a bail or a jump ring for attaching to chain/leather.

G11 - Forming Techniques for Beads and Pendants

Start: 17 April 2013

Wednesday evenings 6– 9pm, 12 meetings, 36 hrs -  £195

Learn the foundation skills in jeweller making through a series of fun set projects that encourage you to explore and experiment with ways to cut, fold and stretch metal. Make 3 hollow forms that can be used as beads or pendants.

12 Week Intermediate Jewellery Course

C15 - Links and Linkages  (Rivets, links, screws)

Start: 18 April 2013
Tuesday evenings 6– 9pm, 12 meetings, 36 hrs -  £195


Experiment with new ways to make chains, and explore how to make rivets, links and screws to join elements together in your jewellery designs. Design and make your own piece of jewellery that uses some form of connectivity.

Working with New Materials
Explore ways to incorporate thermocromic film into your jewellery designs to create jewellery that changes colour according to temperature. Make your own mood pendant or ring. Learn how to ‘Encapsulate’ objects and materials using watch glass. Tutor: Vicky Forrester (+ others)
